Flu Shot Injury Compensation Lawyers in Chicago, Illinois
Every year, most of us are encouraged to get a seasonal flu shot, but even certain healthy individuals have suffered severe, debilitating vaccine injuries caused by the flu vaccine.
If you have been injured by the flu shot, Attorney Ed Kraus, and his team at Kraus Law Group can file a claim to pursue compensation for your injury.
In one representative case, our client suffered from optic neuritis after receiving a flu vaccine, and she was ultimately awarded a lump sum of $1.05 million.
Possible Flu Shot Injuries
The flu shot have been associated with causing the following:
- Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS)
- SIRVA
- Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM)
- Severe allergic reaction
- Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP)
- Brachial neuritis
- Transverse Myelitis
GBS is an autoimmune disorder in which your body's immune system attacks and damages nerve cells. Similar to GBS, CIDP is a neurological disorder that damages nerve fibers but unlike GBS, the symptoms of CIDP tend to be more chronic in nature.
Brachial neuritis is a form of peripheral neuropathy which can impact the chest, shoulder, upper arm and hand on the affected side. The condition can cause severe arm and shoulder pain, and eventually it can lead to numbness and muscle weakness in those areas.
SIRVA, or shoulder injury related to vaccine administration, impacts the arm where a vaccine was administered. Typical symptoms include shoulder pain and reduced range of motion which impact functionality.
Flu Shot Injury Compensation
If you or a family member has been injured by the flu shot, compensation may be available through the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP). This no-fault system was created to provide compensation for any person who is injured by a covered vaccine. Under the VICP, you may be provided with compensation if you suffer one of the recognized adverse effects within the specified amount of time after being vaccinated, as listed on the Vaccine Injury Table.
Most people who are injured by vaccines do not fall within the VICP's Table of recognized injuries and illnesses. If you are one of these people, you have to prove your injury was caused-in-fact by the flu shot.
Attorneys Ed Kraus, Amy Kraus and Brynna Gang are lawyers experienced in vaccine injury claims. If your injury is not on the VICP Table, they can fight on your behalf to make sure you get the compensation you deserve by proving the vaccine you received caused your injury, illness or severe adverse reaction.
